This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in shaping environmentally responsible construction delivery across a high‑profile project.
As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will provide specialist hydrological expertise throughout the planning, design and construction phases, ensuring compliance with regulatory frameworks and industry best practice. The role is ideally suited to an environmental professional with a strong technical background in hydrology, water resources, or environmental engineering, combined with hands‑on experience within construction or civil engineering environments.
Your new role
The main responsibilities of this role include:

  • Provide expert hydrological input across design and construction activities
  • Lead on hydrological modelling, catchment assessments and flood risk analysis
  • Advise on stormwater management, groundwater-surface water interactions and climate resilience
  • Produce, review and implement water‑related management plans and monitoring programmes
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable legislation, permits and client environmental standards
  • Support engagement with regulatory bodies, local authorities and other stakeholders
  • Conduct regular site inspections, advising on hydrological and environmental best practice
  • Oversee installation and monitoring of pollution prevention and water management measures
  • Undertake routine water quality sampling, interpretation and monthly reporting
  • Assess risks to groundwater-dependent ecosystems and support mitigation planning
  • Deliver toolbox talks and spill response training to site teams
  • Lead or contribute to environmental meetings, incident investigations and documentation reviews.
  • Oversee and coordinate the water management site team
  • Serve as a key contact within the site spill response structure

What you'll need to succeed

  • Degree in environmental science, hydrology, water resources, environmental engineering or related discipline

  • Experience delivering flood risk assessments, drainage design and climate resilience strategies
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement water quality monitoring programmes
  • Knowledge of relevant environmental legislation and permitting processes
  • Valid CSCS card and full UK manual driving licence
  • High standard of written reporting and general IT literacy (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.)

What you'll get in return

  • Comprehensive training and professional development
  • 25 days annual leave (Excluding bank holidays)
  • Annual salary of £35,000 - £50,000 (DOE)
  • Employee assistance and wellbeing support
  • Attractive pension scheme
