This is a fantastic opportunity for a Registered Adult Nurse who has the advanced practice and NMP qualification and is passionate about women’s healthcare to join our team as anAssociate Nurse Consultant.

This is a development post and you will be paid as a Band 8a and work towards the Band8b Nurse Consultant job description with clear targets to achieve through the development period.

The aim will be to reach the competences of a Band 8b Nurse Consultant within 24 months.

About you
We are looking for a clinical nurse leader who is:
• NMC-registered with senior-level experience (Band 7 or above) and an MSC in advanced practice.
• Skilled in women’s health, trauma-informed care, and case management.
• Experienced in working within or alongside health and justice services (desirable, not essential).
• Knowledgeable in governance, quality improvement, and research methodologies.
• A dynamic leader who can inspire multidisciplinary teams and drive innovation in practice.
• Committed to addressing health inequalities and improving outcomes for women in custody.
• Willing to undertake the Nurse Consultant development competencies within 24 months

About the role:

We are seeking an experienced Advanced practitioner for this Associate Nurse Consultant development postto lead the development and delivery of our innovativeWomen’s Health and Well-Being Hubsacross three female prison sites in Surrey:HMP Bronzefield, HMP Send, and HMP Downview.

This is a pioneering role where your clinical expertise, leadership and advanced practice skills will directly shape services for women in custody, individuals who frequently experience complex health inequalities, including trauma, self-harm, substance misuse, reproductive health concerns, and long-term physical and mental health challenges.

The Women’s Health Hubs are dedicated, nurse-led, nurse-delivered spaces designed to deliver accessible, trauma-informed, integrated care. They aim to improve health outcomes, reduce reliance on urgent and emergency interventions, and provide structured, proactive healthcare for some of the most marginalised women in our society.

As an Associate Nurse Consultant, you will:
• Provide clinical leadership and oversight across all three Women’s Health Hubs.
• Lead and support teams of Advanced Practitioners and Nursing Associates.
• Take responsibility for all four pillars of advanced practice:clinical practice, leadership and management, education, and research.
• Deliver high-quality, evidence-based care and lead on initiatives to reduce health inequalities.
• Supervise, mentor, and develop nursing staff to embed trauma-informed, patient-centred practice.
• Undertake clinical and regulatory audits, quality improvement programmes, and research activity.
• Contribute to the Senior Leadership Team, ensuring high professional standards and safe, effective care delivery.
• Inspire, influence, and motivate colleagues across the service to deliver excellence in women’s health within a health and justice context.
