Job Summary The Old School Surgery is seeking to recruit an Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) to join our clinical team. This role is offered on a part-time basis of approximately 4 sessions per week, with flexibility around how those sessions are structured across the working week. The ANP will work autonomously within their scope of practice to assess, diagnose and manage patients presenting with a wide range of acute and ongoing health needs. Working closely with GP partners, nurses and the wider multidisciplinary team, the role supports the delivery of high-quality patient care while contributing to the practices modern patient access model. About The Old School Surgery The Old School Surgery is a partner-led GP practice serving approximately 7,500 patients in Stoney Stanton, Leicestershire. Our multidisciplinary team includes: GP Partner Paramedic Salaried GPs Medical Health Practitioner Practice Nurses Physio Healthcare Assistant Midwife Patient Coordinators Clinical Pharmacists Administration Staff Dispensary Team The practice is continuing to develop systems and processes that improve patient access to care and support effective communication across the team. Digital access tools such as Rapid Health support patient triage and help ensure patients are directed to the most appropriate clinician while maintaining good access to face-to-face appointments. Purpose of the Role The Advanced Nurse Practitioner will provide autonomous clinical care within their scope of practice, supporting the management of patients presenting with both acute and ongoing healthcare needs. Working collaboratively with the clinical team, the ANP will contribute to the assessment, diagnosis and management of patients while supporting the efficient delivery of primary care services within the practice. The role offers the opportunity to work within a supportive multidisciplinary environment focused on delivering patient-centred care. Clinical Responsibilities The post-holder will provide advanced clinical assessment and management for patients presenting with a wide range of health conditions. Responsibilities may include: Assessment, diagnosis and management of acute illnesses Management of patients with long-term conditions where appropriate Prescribing in line with professional qualifications and practice protocols Requesting and interpreting investigations where appropriate Providing treatment plans and follow-up care Referring patients to other healthcare professionals or services when necessary The ANP may also support triage systems where appropriate, helping ensure patients are directed to the most suitable clinician. Clinical Interests The practice welcomes clinicians who bring additional clinical interests that support the wider needs of the practice population. Experience or interest in areas such as wound care, womens health and HRT management, and long-term condition support would complement the existing clinical team and contribute to the range of services available to patients. Working Within the Clinical Team The ANP will work collaboratively with: GP Partners Salaried GPs Practice Nurses Healthcare Assistants Patient Co-ordinators Clinical Pharmacists The practice operates a strong team-based approach to patient care, where clinicians are supported by administrative teams that help coordinate patient communication and requests. Systems and Digital Tools The practice uses a number of digital systems to support patient care and communication, including: SystmOne Accurx Rapid Health Training and support will be available where required. Professional Development The practice is committed to supporting the professional development of its clinical team. The ANP will be encouraged to participate in ongoing professional development and maintain their clinical competencies in accordance with professional requirements. Working Pattern This role is offered on a part-time basis of approximately 4 sessions per week. Sessions may be arranged flexibly across the week and may include a mixture of morning and afternoon clinics depending on the needs of the practice and the successful candidate. Person Specification Essential Registered Nurse with current NMC registration Qualified Advanced Nurse Practitioner Independent prescribing qualification Experience working autonomously within primary care or urgent care settings Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Desirable Experience working in general practice Experience using SystmOne, Accurx Experience managing urgent or same-day patient presentations
