Are you passionate about providing a high-quality Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) service to adult inpatients with neurological impairments? Are you looking for the chance to develop your career in a prestigious London Trust with access to highly skilled clinicians and multiple learning opportunities?

We are looking for a specialist SLT to join our service in a combined role across the Charing Cross Neuro-Rehabilitation Unit (CNRU) - a 15 bedded level 2 neuro-rehab unit - and our rapid access to acute rehabilitation (RAAR) service to Stroke/Neurosciences Wards at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. The services have dedicated multidisciplinary teams in which SLT has a high profile. CNRU receives patients from across North-West London and from our local stroke units, major trauma centre, and neurology and neurosurgical wards.

As a valued member of the speech & language therapy and multidisciplinary teams, you will contribute to holistic inter-disciplinary working, further developing your clinical skills in the management of dysphagia and acquired communication disorders. You will be actively involved in service development and training of others. The post-holder will provide support to Therapy Support Workers as well as supervise students on placement. Staff are encouraged and supported to participate in CPD activities.
• To independently manage a caseload of adults with acquired communication and/or swallowing difficulties of neurological/medical/surgical origin, demonstrating specialist knowledge and skill underpinned by current evidence-based practice.
• To provide specialist assessment and treatment for patients with adult acquired communication and swallowing problems.
• To develop and maintain skills and knowledge through personal study, journal club and designated training courses defined by individual performance Review.
• To work independently, accessing supervision and appraisal within an Individual Performance Review Framework at predetermined intervals with their supervising clinician.
• To reflect on clinical and professional practice in supervision sessions and adapt practice accordingly.
• To contribute to the development and delivery of audit projects appropriate to the post’s clinical commitments, in conjunction with other speech and language therapists and MDT colleagues.
• To have working knowledge of and adhere to all relevant national and local professional and clinical guidelines.
• To contribute to policy and service development within the SLT service across ICHNT.

At Imperial College Healthcare you can achieve extraordinary things with extraordinary people, working with leading clinicians pushing boundaries in patient care.
