New SEN Role: Teaching Assistant
Location: Chaldon, Surrey (Near Caterham)
Salary: £25,000 per annum (Actual)
Start Date: April 2026
Contract: Full-Time, Permanent
About the RoleAre you looking for a role where your personality and patience make a tangible difference? We are seeking a dedicated and empathetic Teaching Assistant to join our specialist school in Chaldon.
Our school supports children and young people with unique learning needs, including Autism (ASC) and associated social, emotional, and mental health challenges. This isn't just about "helping with schoolwork"-it's about building trust, managing complex behaviours with a calm head, and celebrating the small wins that lead to big breakthroughs.
What You'll Be Doing-
One-on-One Support: Working closely with students to help them engage with their personalised curriculum.
-
Emotional Regulation: Using your intuition to spot when a student is overwhelmed and stepping in with the right support strategies.
-
Life Skills: Helping students develop independence and social skills beyond the traditional classroom setting.
-
Collaboration: Working alongside a multidisciplinary team of teachers and therapists to ensure every child feels safe and understood.
-
Resilience: You stay cool under pressure and understand that "challenging behavior" is usually a form of communication.
-
Empathy: You can see the world through the eyes of a neurodivergent young person.
-
Energy: You're ready to be active, get involved, and bring a positive vibe to the classroom.
-
Experience: Previous experience in SEN (Special Educational Needs) is a plus, but we value attitude and transferable skills above all else.
At a salary of around £25,000, we recognise the immense value our TAs bring to the table. You will be joining a supportive, tight-knit team in a beautiful, calm environment designed specifically for the needs of our students. We provide comprehensive training to ensure you feel confident and empowered from day one.
Ready to make a start this April? If you're a grounded, compassionate individual who wants to turn "I can't" into "I can" for our students, we'd love to hear from you. Please apply now or call Paul at Randstad on 01293 527416 or email paul.hirchfield@randstad.co.uk
