TeacherActive is working with a specialist SEND school in Taunton that is looking to recruit a caring and dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time, long-term basis.

This specialist setting supports children and young people aged 4–19 with complex needs, including Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), autism, physical disabilities, and communication needs. The school provides a highly supportive and structured environment, focusing on developing communication, independence, and life skills.

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils 1:1 and in small groups, helping them engage in learning activities and daily routines.

Key Responsibilities

• Support pupils with complex SEND needs in the classroom

  
  

• Assist with communication, sensory activities, and engagement in learning

  
  

• Provide 1:1 and small group support

  
  

• Help pupils develop confidence, independence, and life skills

  
  

• Support personal care and moving & handling where required

  
  The Ideal Candidate

  • Patient, caring, and supportive

    
    

  • Passionate about working with children with additional needs

    
    

  • Experience in SEND, care, support work, or education is beneficial but not essential

    
    

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
