Key Responsibilities Clinical Responsibilities Provide high-quality, patient-centred general practice care to registered and temporary patients presenting with acute and chronic medical conditions. Undertake clinical consultations including face-to-face, telephone, and digital consultations as appropriate. Assess, diagnose, investigate, treat and refer patients in accordance with best clinical practice and current NICE guidance. Prescribe medications and treatments in line with local and national prescribing guidance. Maintain accurate, contemporaneous and legally compliant clinical records within the clinical system. Undertake appropriate home visits when clinically required. Participate in the management of long-term conditions in line with national guidance and local care pathways. Identify and appropriately manage safeguarding concerns in line with statutory requirements. Work collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team including nurses, allied health professionals, pharmacists, and community services. Educational and Supervisory Responsibilities Act as Educational and/or Clinical Supervisor for GP Specialty Trainees and Foundation Year doctors in accordance with training programme requirements. Provide structured teaching sessions, case-based discussions and clinical debriefs. Support trainees in developing clinical competence, professionalism and reflective practice. Ensure appropriate supervision of trainee clinical work to maintain patient safety. Participate in trainee assessment processes including workplace-based assessments where required. Provide feedback and mentorship to trainees to support professional development. Liaise with training programme directors, deanery representatives and educational bodies as required. Maintain appropriate GP Trainer accreditation and participate in required trainer updates.Clinical Governance and Quality Improvement Participate in clinical governance activities within the practice including audit, significant event reviews, and quality improvement initiatives. Contribute to maintaining high standards of patient safety and clinical care. Support the practice in meeting regulatory and contractual requirements including those relating to NHS England and the Care Quality Commission. Maintain awareness of current clinical guidance and evidence-based practice. Contribute to the development and implementation of clinical policies and protocols where appropriate. Service Development Contribute to the ongoing development of services within the practice to improve patient care and access. Support initiatives that strengthen the delivery of care within primary care settings. Participate in multidisciplinary discussions relating to service planning and patient pathways. Professional Responsibilities Maintain full registration with the General Medical Council and remain on the NHS Performers List. Undertake continuing professional development and appraisal in line with GMC revalidation requirements. Adhere to the principles of Good Medical Practice. Maintain professional indemnity appropriate to the role. Work within all relevant practice policies including information governance, safeguarding, infection prevention and control, and health and safety. Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with all data protection legislation. Digital and Operational Working Work effectively within the practices digital clinical systems and electronic patient records. Utilise digital consultation and patient communication systems as part of routine clinical practice. Support the safe use of digital workflow systems designed to improve clinical efficiency and patient access. Team Working Work collaboratively with clinical and administrative colleagues to ensure the effective delivery of services. Support a positive working environment that encourages professional respect, open communication and shared learning. Participate in practice meetings, multidisciplinary meetings and educational sessions as required. Other Duties The post holder may be required to undertake other reasonable duties consistent with the level and nature of the role as determined by the GP Partners or Practice Manager.
