The successful applicant will be expected to: Contribute to the Emergency service at Whiston Hospital participating in the initial assessment, treatment, referral and disposition of patients attending the Emergency Department. Work a shift pattern including weekends. Tailored job plan to personal needs can be discussed at the interview. Develop skills in managing the department to avoid unnecessary patient waits and maintain good clinical care to all patients. To participate in clinical audit and activities. To participate in continuing professional development. Study leave is actively encouraged and there is significant financial support for appropriate courses. Resident Clinical Fellows within the Emergency Department will be involved in delivering to direct clinical care in all areas of the department alongside Emergency Medicine, GP and Foundation Trainees. Successful candidates will also take an active role in the supervision and teaching of medical students and engage with ED audit and governance. The rota will feature a variety of shifts with a proportion allocated to resus, paediatric and ambulatory care areas of the department. There will also be the allocation of non-clinical time for clinical fellows to engage with other aspects of the ED as well as develop other EM linked skills and work with affiliated teams. The post includes a study leave allowance and budget for educational courses. This post would be ideal for candidates who are interested in a career in Emergency Medicine and who wish to apply for an ACCS programme next year. The role will provide broad coverage in line with the national curriculum and good training exposure. The senior team is keen to teach and experienced in providing guidance and supporting specialty applications.
