Central Recruitment is working with a prominent national homelessness charity, whose work includes supporting and accommodating young people.

Our client is currently recruiting for two Progression Coaches to work in the Durham area at a service providing supported accommodation for young people (aged 18+) to help them move on to their own independent accommodation.

• Role 1: 37.5 hours per week (Monday – Friday), 09:00 - 17:00
• Role 2: 37.5 hours per week (Monday – Sunday), 14:00 - 22:00
• Both roles are temporary: approximately 3 months
• £13.87 per hour (£12.38 per hour, with £1.49 holiday pay)

Please note: this role involves lone working

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Hold a caseload of 8 clients, delivering regular key working sessions and reviewing agreed support plans
• Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all clients, following safeguarding and emergency procedures
• Provide personalised, flexible and creative support encouraging client participation
• Collaborate with external agencies to support clients, adhering to data protection protocols
• Support clients to access Education, Training, Employment and Volunteering opportunities
• Contribute to maintaining a safe and welcoming environment, including preparing accommodation
• Assist with volunteer coordination and promote client involvement initiatives
• Maintain clear, accurate records
• Manage building security

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

• Experience working with young people or those affected by homelessness
• Understanding of the needs of individuals facing homelessness, mental health issues, substance misuse, or the care system
• Experience holding a caseload and knowledge of risk assessments, support planning, safeguarding and health and safety procedures
• Experience managing challenging behaviour, including responding calmly to crisis
• Strong literacy, numeracy and IT skills and ability to take notes
• Ability to maintain professional boundaries, work collaboratively and reflect on practices for continuous development

FURTHER REQUIREMENTS:

In order to register with Central Recruitment Services for temporary agency work, candidates must meet the following criteria:
• Current valid right to work in the UK
• Minimum 12 months’ of paid experience in a front line social care role within the last 3 years* (unless recruitment criteria states otherwise)
• A fully enhanced DBS either registered on the DBS update service or issued within the last 12 months, or willingness to apply for one through Central (at a cost of £60)
• Employment or education history to cover the last 5 years which can be verified through the referencing process
