At The Royal London Hospital we are passionate about getting it right for our patients and their families. To achieve this, we are looking to appoint an outstanding individual to the post of Senior Sister/Charge Nurse within the Acute Admissions Unit (AAU).
Working together as a team of 3 Band 7 Senior Sisters/Charge Nurses, managing a large team of Nurses and Healthcare Support Workers, we will support you to develop your role as a leader within the exciting field of acute admissions. We admit patients directly from A&E to our 52 bedded Acute Admissions Unit and aim to provide an exceptional standard of care whilst maintaining the flow of patients throughout the hospital.
You will work both clinical and managerial shifts, with an added focus on the support and development of the AAU nursing team and you will provide senior cover for the AAU out of hours. You will work closely with our dedicated team of 12 acute medical consultants as well as teams from all other medical specialties. We are able to provide level 1A care for more acutely unwell patients and have 8 beds with cardiac monitors.

· To be a professional role model, leading and coordinating the ward/department team. Taking continuing responsibility and accountability for the 24-hour management and organization of the Ward/Department. This involves managing a wide range of complex and sometimes conflicting priorities. To work both clinically and managerially
· Provide specialist nursing advice to support and facilitate high quality, individualized care to patients /clients and relatives/carers in collaboration with the multi professional team, in line with the local and national targets.
· At all times ensure that the needs of the patient are placed at the centre of care delivery.
· To be flexible in the approach to the clinical area and provide cover for any area specified.
· To ensure that the unit is well led and that the teams are being proactive in the delivery of care.
