The CleaningOperative is responsible for delivering high standards of cleaning and hygieneacross designated areas of the site. The role ensures all cleaning activitiesare completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company standards,client requirements, and health and safety regulations.
The positionsupports the wider facilities team in maintaining a safe, clean, andprofessional environment for staff, visitors, and customers.
Key Responsibilities
Cleaning & Service Delivery
- Clean designated areas to the required standards, including routine, weekly and periodic tasks.
- Ensure all work is completed efficiently and within allocated timeframes.
- Maintain high standards of hygiene and presentation across all areas.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Use cleaning chemicals and materials safely in accordance withCOSHH regulations.
- Follow all health, safety, fire, and hygiene procedures.
- Use safety signage where required (e.g. wet floor signs).
- Report hazards, incidents, or faulty equipment to the supervisor or manager.
Equipment & Materials
- Safely operate cleaning equipment following appropriate training.
- Ensure equipment is cleaned, maintained and stored correctly.
- Monitor stock levels and notify management when supplies are low.
- Ensure cleaning stores are kept clean, organised, and secure.
Team & Operational Support
- Communicate effectively with the Cleaning Manager and team members.
- Attend training sessions and team meetings when required.
- Provide cover for colleagues during absences or holidays where needed.
- Follow all site rules, company policies, and procedures.
Key Accountabilities
- Consistently high cleaning standards across all assigned areas.
- Compliance with all health, safety, and hygiene regulations including COSHH.
- Positive feedback from clients, customers, and site users.
- Effective time management and flexibility to meet operational needs.
Person Specification
Experience
- Previous cleaning experience preferred.
- Experience working in a team environment.
- Experience working within standards or compliance-based environments.
Knowledge
- Basic knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment.
- Understanding of health and safety procedures.
Skills
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Commitment to delivering high standards of service.
