This includes offering reassurance, updates, and practical assistance to help patients feel informed and supported during their care journey. The Urgent Care Driver liaises closely with the Clinical Advisory Service and contributes to safe, efficient, and compassionate care delivery. Their presence enhances patient experience, supports clinical effectiveness, and ensures continuity of service during busy or challenging periods. Key Duties and Responsibilities: Prepare treatment centres for clinical operations: Ensure all equipment, IT systems, and clinical spaces are ready for use at the start of each shift, enabling smooth patient flow and clinician readiness. Support patient comfort post-assessment: Provide reassurance, updates, and practical support to patients who have been seen by a clinician, helping reduce anxiety and improve their care experience. Undertake comfort calls to patients awaiting clinical call back or an appointment time. Assist with non-clinical care navigation: Guide patients through next steps, such as where to go, what to expect, or how to access further services, ensuring clarity and continuity. Welcome and register patients: Greet patients professionally, record arrival times, and input accurate data into the system to support timely clinical care. Liaise with the Clinical Advisory Service (CAS): Maintain clear communication with CAS to coordinate duties, manage workload, and respond to operational needs. Transport clinicians safely to home visits: Drive clinicians to patient homes, ensuring safety, punctuality, and adherence to traffic regulations. Maintain vehicle condition and readiness: Conduct daily checks, keep vehicles clean and fuelled, and report any defects to ensure safe and reliable transport. Manage medication stocks and protocols: Check and replenish drug supplies, follow controlled drug procedures, and ensure accurate handovers between shifts. Ensure infection control standards: Keep clinical areas clean and follow hygiene protocols to protect patients and staff from infection risks. Monitor and report operational issues: Identify and escalate any problems such as staffing gaps, equipment failures, or delays to the Operational Team Lead promptly. Communicate with patients awaiting visits: Provide updates and reassurance to patients waiting for home visits, helping manage expectations and reduce distress. Support CAS operations during busy periods: Assist with call handling, dispatching, or other tasks when clinical or operational demand is high. Secure premises and sensitive information: Lock drug cupboards, secure confidential data, and ensure the treatment centre is safe when unattended. Maintain accurate records and documentation: Complete driver logs, fuel receipts, prescription records, and patient interaction records to support audit and continuity. Promote a professional and compassionate image: Represent Kernow Health CIC with integrity, empathy, and professionalism, contributing to a positive patient and staff experience. Undertake base coordinator duties when assigned as part of your role: Supporting the smooth running of the base and operational resources. You will be expected to carry out any other duties that may reasonably be required in line with your main duties, as directed by your line manager.
