Crynodeb
We are recruiting for our next training intake in April (dates TBC) typically Monday and Tuesday are online training from home. There is no training on Wednesday. Thursday and Friday is in person training at our centre in Brighton BN2 6AH.
We provide skilled intermediaries across the United Kingdom to enable communication with children people with communication differences up to the age of 65.
Triangle specialises with working with children and young people, in particular children learning disability, autism, brain injury, ADHD, mental health conditions, physical disability and those you have experienced trauma.
Triangle are based in Brighton, East Sussex but applicants should be prepared to work nationwide to meet demand.
Job Purpose : To facilitate two-way communication between a young suspect, defendant, complainant, witness or party and others in the legal system to ensure that communication is as complete, coherent and accurate as possible.
Main Duties:
· Working with young people in a professional environment, you will be required to attend solicitors appointments, legal conferences and also attend court appearances in both the Criminal and Family Court.
· To quickly build rapport and engage children and young people as active partners in the assessment of their communication needs.
· To create communication strategies and resources to meet those needs.
· To give clear guidance and produce evidence-based, accessible reports in line with our contractual obligations to HMCTS.
· To directly facilitate communication with the child or young person, including co-regulating their emotional state when needed.
· To remain impartial and professional at all times, as an officer of the court.
· To communicate effectively within the Triangle team and beyond, building working relationships with a wide range of professionals.
· To participate in individual and group supervision and training.
· To work within the framework of Triangle's policies and procedures and to undertake other duties as may reasonably be requested.
Essential Requirements:
· Our Head Office is based in Brighton, but our Intermediary team are based all over the UK. A willingness to travel and ability to stay overnight is key for this role. (all travel and accommodation expenses are met by Triangle)
· Excellent general communication skills, and proven specialist skills in communicating with specific groups of children or young people.
· Demonstrable experience of working with children, young people and / or adults with communication differences.
· Experience of facilitating two or three-way communication, enabling people to understand and meaningfully participate in their court proceedings
· Confidence to analyse and present information in a clear and accessible way both in person and the ability to author detailed and concise reports for court.
· Experience of working within the justice system - especially the Criminal and / or Family Courts is highly desirable
Personal Qualities:
· Strong planning and problem-solving skills, flexibility and a ‘can do’ attitude.
· Ability to work well under pressure, and to deal calmly with difficult and traumatic information and distressing situations.
· Ability to travel nationally when required.
· Comfortable with working some unsociable hours to meet the needs of our work.
How our training and recruitment programme works;
· We offer places on our Intermediary Development Programme free of charge and will provide you with lunch on each ‘in person’ training day. Any travel and accommodation costs are to be met by the trainee.
· You will be assessed at various points throughout the programme and must pass the training assessments and final assessment to be considered for a role. We will provide full details of the assessment criteria at interview stage
· After successfully completing the training, the aim is that you would be offered a training contract to start working with Triangle as a trainee intermediary. You will need to commit to a 12 month training continued training programme.
