The Role – Internal Medicine Veterinary Surgeon

This position is ideal for a Veterinary Surgeon with a certificate in Internal Medicine or currently studying towards one.

The successful candidate will join a busy hospital team managing a diverse medical caseload, including ultrasound and endoscopy investigations.

You will play an important role in delivering high-quality, evidence-based veterinary care while contributing to a collaborative clinical environment.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality clinical care to small animal patients
• Perform consultations, diagnostics and case investigations
• Use advanced diagnostic tools including radiography, ultrasound and endoscopy
• Develop evidence-based treatment plans
• Maintain compliance with RCVS standards and medicines legislation
• Provide excellent client communication and support
• Work collaboratively with the hospital veterinary team

Hospital Facilities

This veterinary hospital offers excellent clinical support, including:

• CT scanner
• Commercial in-house laboratory
• Endoscopy and ultrasound equipment
• Advanced orthopaedic and soft tissue surgery
• Experienced referral-level surgical team

Veterinary Team

You will be working alongside a large multidisciplinary team including:

• 25 Veterinary Surgeons
• 27 Registered Veterinary Nurses
• 14 Student Veterinary Nurses
• 7 Veterinary Care Assistants
• Dedicated Client Care team

You will also be supported by an experienced leadership structure including a Senior Internal Medicine Vet, Head Vet, Head Nurse and Hospital Manager.

Working Hours

• 40 hours per week
• 4 day working week
• 1 in 3 Saturdays
• 1 in 6 Sundays
• Up to 2 bank holidays per year
• Included in last resort on-call rota

The hospital is located on the London / Essex border, offering the perfect mix of city access and green surroundings.

Requirements

• RCVS registered Veterinary Surgeon
• Certificate in Internal Medicine (or currently studying)
• Experience or interest in ultrasound and endoscopy
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
