Central Recruitment is working with one of the UK’s oldest not-for-profit housing associations, dedicated to providing quality homes and housing services that make a positive difference in communities, while creating an inclusive and supportive workplace.

Our client is currently recruiting multiple Housing Support Workers, with roles available in Lambeth, Lewisham or Islington. The roles involve supporting young people to access the housing register or secure suitable private rented accommodation, helping them move towards greater independence.

• 37.5 hours per week
• Monday - Sunday (rolling rota basis)
• Shifts: 08:00 - 16:00 and 14:00 - 22:00
• Temporary: approximately 3 months
• £15.97 per hour (£13.94 per hour, with £2.03 holiday pay)

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a dedicated team and support young people on their journey towards independence.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Hold a caseload of 2-3 key clients, delivering key working sessions and developing support plans
• Carry out needs and risk assessments, reviews, welfare checks and provide ongoing support
• Promote tenant integration into the local community and support the development of life skills
• Support young people to access counselling, mental health support, or drug and alcohol services
• Encourage participation in daily living tasks such as shopping, cooking, cleaning and household responsibilities
• Liaise with other external agencies e.g. benefits, health professionals and local authorities
• Maintain accurate records relating to the tenants home
• Support the management of house income and expenditure including residents' finances and bills
• Undertake core housing management tasks including void inspections, sign-ups, move-in support, utilities liaison, low-level arrears management, and health and safety checks
• Help maintain the accommodation by reporting and following up maintenance issues

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

• Experience providing support to young people with complex needs in the community or within a supported living environment
• Experience providing good outcomes for young people ensuring successful move on
• Up to date knowledge of welfare benefits
• Strong communication skills
• Understanding of housing support needs of young people and the value of flexible, outcome-focused, person-centred support
• Knowledge of health and safety issues and safeguarding protocols relating to young people
• Confident using Microsoft Office maintaining accurate electronic records with attention to detail
• Ability to work as part of a team
• Approachable, resilient and able to manage the demands of a busy, challenging and emotive role

FURTHER REQUIREMENTS:

In order to register with Central Recruitment Services for temporary agency work, candidates must meet the following criteria:
• Current valid right to work in the UK
• Minimum 12 months’ of paid experience in a front line social care role within the last 3 years* (unless recruitment criteria states otherwise)
• A fully enhanced DBS either registered on the DBS update service or issued within the last 12 months, or willingness to apply for one through Central (at a cost of £60)
• Employment or education history to cover the last 5 years which can be verified through the referencing process
