GCDA is looking for a community gardener, an enthusiastic person who can support broad engagement in community gardens across Greenwich.
• 14 hours per week (flexible across week subject to agreement)
• Initially a fixed term April to September 2026
Salary £32,760 pro rata £6,552 actual (for 14hrs April to September)
• Experienced delivering workshops and activities in community gardens
• Someone who enjoys working with diverse stakeholders
• Experience supporting volunteers in a community setting

Interviews will take place in person over two days on Wednesday 1st April & Thursday 2nd April from 09:30 – 13:00
at Woolwich Common Community Centre
JOB SUMMARY
The community gardener will run workshops and activities that help engage local residents, volunteers and visitors at the community gardens.
This role will ensure the gardens and activities are creative, welcoming, productive, and inclusive environments for participants in the gardens.
The role will also include practical gardening and basic site upkeep.
Key responsibilities
Community Gardening workshops and activities
• Help create a welcoming and inclusive environment for residents, volunteers, and visitors.
• Support community gardening sessions and encourage participation from people of all ages and abilities.
• Share basic gardening knowledge and guidance with participants in a friendly and accessible way.
• Deliver group activities, workshops, or volunteer sessions where required.
• Work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, and partners.
• Assist with setup/pack-down for gardening sessions and events.
