Join us as Head of Accounting, Regulatory and Valuation Policy
- We’re looking for an outstanding senior leader to lead our Group accounting, regulatory reporting and valuation policy teams.
- As Head of Accounting, Regulatory, and Valuation Policy, you’ll lead a high‑performing team of specialists, set strategic direction for complex policy domains, and influence decision‑making at the highest levels of the organisation.
- You’ll act as a trusted advisor to executive leadership and Board committees, ensuring the Group maintains best‑in‑class financial reporting, governance, and technical rigour.
- Externally, you’ll represent the bank with regulators, standard‑setters and industry bodies, shape emerging policy and champion the Group’s perspective on key developments.
- This is a rare opportunity for a recognised technical expert to step into a visible, influential leadership role with Group‑wide impact and industry reach.
What you'll do
As Head of Accounting, Regulatory, and Valuation Policy, you’ll be responsible for leading the bank’s interpretation and application of accounting, regulatory reporting, valuation, and sustainability-related policies. The role ensures consistent, high-quality financial accounting and reporting across the Group, provides authoritative technical guidance to senior stakeholders, and oversees the governance of finance models used in financial and regulatory reporting.
The role acts as a senior interface with regulators (PRA, FCA, BoE), standard-setters (IASB, FRC), and industry bodies, shaping policy development and representing the bank’s interests across the industry.
In addition, you’ll:
- Own the Group’s accounting and regulatory reporting policies, providing expert technical guidance to senior leaders and ensuring consistent application across the organisation.
- Maintain strong internal governance and control frameworks for accounting, regulatory, valuation, and climate policies, and support high‑quality disclosure, audit, and attestation processes.
- Oversee valuation governance, including fair value policies, XVAs, valuation methodologies, and model governance, while chairing key committees and ensuring regulatory expectations are met.
- Act as a senior external representative, engaging with regulators, standard‑setters, auditors, and industry groups, and leading responses to consultations and policy developments.
The skills you'll need
We’re looking for someone with considerable experience leading policy development and implementation at a senior level in a banking or financial services environment or in practice. You’ll have a professional accounting qualification and in-depth and up-to-date accounting and regulatory knowledge. You will bring expert, current knowledge of accounting standards and regulatory reporting rules and requirements. You’ll have a broad policy network encompassing other banks, accounting firms, regulators and industry bodies and be a recognised authority in policy circles.
In addition, you’ll need:
- Experience of leading, managing, coaching, and directing a team of finance professionals
- The ability to nurture key relationships with executives and external regulators, and to influence, challenge, and persuade
- Strong communication skills, along with the ability to articulate complex concepts and issues clearly and succinctly
