Crynodeb
The post is designed to support undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. Post-holders will teach medical students in both the hospital and university settings, and will have the opportunity to deliver teaching to doctors in training. As a result, our education fellows will be involved in teaching a broad range of topics across both universities and at postgraduate level, requiring high levels of flexibility and adaptability. Medical student teaching varies daily, from bedside teaching for Phase I students through to revision for final year students. This teaching encompasses small group workshops, lectures and simulation based education amongst others. All teaching materials are provided however development of resources is ongoing throughout the academic year. The post-holder will need to be able to deliver both planned teaching sessions and also be adaptable to short notice changes to their diary, eg at times of high pressure in the department, sickness of colleagues, or during student revision and exam periods. The Trust has an education facility off site (Acorn House) which includes two fully equipped simulation suites, high fidelity manikins, state-of-the-art audio-visual equipment and the support of a multidisciplinary simulation faculty. All clinical educators will have the opportunity to be involved in the running and development of simulation. Training in assessment and evaluation of students is available throughout the year. All clinical educators will be involved in assessment including writing questions for written assessments, marking exams, quality assurance processes and supporting the running of clinical examinations in the Trust.
