What You Will Do
You will:
- Deliver one-to-one careers guidance sessions
- Run structured workshops on CV writing, interview skills and job search
- Help individuals set realistic goals and action plans
- Identify skills gaps and suitable training routes
- Record activity accurately and maintain compliance standards
- Work closely with prison staff and external partners
You will offer encouragement. You will also set clear expectations and maintain professional boundaries.
The Environment
You will work inside a secure prison setting.
Prisons operate on strict routines. Entry and exit are controlled. Personal items are restricted. When you are on site, you are focused fully on your role.
This is not a flexible environment. It is organised and disciplined. Many people find the structure purposeful and rewarding.
Enhanced prison vetting and security clearance are required. Employment is subject to successful clearance.

What You Will Bring
- Experience delivering one-to-one guidance or group sessions
- Confidence using IT systems to record activity
- Understanding of safeguarding and compliance
- Ability to manage difficult conversations professionally
- Ideally Level 3 or above in Careers Information, Advice and Guidance, or willingness to work towards it

A Day in the Role
Your day begins with clearing security and preparing for scheduled sessions.
You may meet someone exploring job options after release. Together, you review skills, barriers and next steps. Later, you might deliver a workshop on interview preparation or workplace expectations.
Throughout the day, you update records, liaise with prison staff and maintain professional boundaries.
Planning and consistency are essential. Structure is part of the role.
