Your new company
Hays are partnering with a leading organisation within the energy sector to recruit an interim Procurement Officer for a 12‑month assignment. The role will be based across their Northern Ireland sites, supporting major operational activities and working closely with a well‑established procurement team.
Your new role
- As Procurement Officer, you will work with key stakeholders to source and procure a wide range of goods and services, ensuring value for money and adherence to internal procurement policies and processes.
- You will manage the end‑to‑end procurement lifecycle, run competitive tenders, negotiate commercial and contractual terms, and ensure value is delivered throughout contract execution.
- You will also be responsible for supplier relationship management, resolving contractual issues, identifying opportunities for cost savings or process improvements, and maintaining procurement systems.
- The role requires close collaboration with internal teams, including HSEQ, to ensure a safe and high‑performing supply chain.
What you'll need to succeed
- Strong procurement experience gained in a similar operational or project‑based environment
- Proven ability to manage the full sourcing cycle and deliver value throughout contract delivery
- Knowledge of contractual terms and experience handling commercial negotiations
- Background dealing with complex contracts or technical supply requirements
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities
- Confident communicator with the ability to build positive working relationships
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and summarise data
- Highly motivated and adaptable with a proactive approach
- Competent IT skills, particularly in MS Office
- Experience within energy, petrochemical or heavy engineering sectors - desirable
- Experience using SAP or e‑tendering tools - desirable
