An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our enthusiastic team on Ward 3 (Surgical Day Case Unit). The patient centred team focus on safely admitting all surgical elective patients and recovering patient's postoperatively, leading up to their discharge home.
We cover a variety of surgical specialities including ENT, Breast, Urology, Colorectal, Gynaecology, General Surgery, Plastics, Vascular, Ophthalmology and Pain. As a department our nursing team deliver high standards of care, we are looking for a conscientious, reliable and energetic person to join our team.
The Senior Healthcare Support Worker will work as part of the ward team with supervision of registered practitioners to provide effective, safe patient focused care at all times. Contribute to the development of the care environment with a positive, professional attitude. Contribute to the maintenance of daily provision of service and care to meet the individual needs of patients and department. To support the smooth running of the ward and ensure patients, relatives and carers are dealt with in a friendly and efficient manner. You will ensure that policies and guidelines are adhered to.

• General nursing duties and setting up of clinics.
• Ensuring a clean and safe environment for patients and staff, (maintaining infection control policies), assisting with general cleaning and re-stocking of resources where appropriate as well as cleaning and preparing patients beds.
• Supporting our nursing & medical teams to provide a high standard of care.
• Assisting with procedures and treatments, preventing patient harm.
• Documentation (written and electronic).
• Attending and contributing to staff meetings and audit.
• Keeping up to date with mandatory training.
• Completing patient's observations/tasks such as patient temperature, weighing, and fluid balance checks as required.
• Being involved in the admission & discharge processes.
• Communicate with all members of the team to maintain a good service provision.
• Contribute to own personal development and take an active part in learning opportunities
• Ensure effective use of material resources/supplies within the ward/unit in consultation with senior staff.
• Alert the registered nurse where you notice any changes in the patient’s health and well-being or any possible risks.
