Saga Money, part of Saga Plc is looking for an expert financial writer & editor to work alongside our Editorial Director. You will fully own the Money Content Strategy for all our digital channels as well as financial publications and our own Saga Magazine.
Our product portfolio across Saga Money is constantly evolving we partner with leading providers and offer everything from Legal Services, Equity Release, Savings, Mortgages and Investments. You will need to be up to date with the FCA consumer duty, market trends and what our very own Saga customers expect from their Money and Finance products.
We also have a newsletter reach of millions of customers, therefore we need an editor with heaps of knowledge in this space. You will need to bring to life our products and services but also see opportunities to work with other content teams in Saga to promote Saga Money.
We work in a hybrid way at Saga both at home and in the office. In this team we work mainly from London and tend to have a pattern of 2-3 days per week.

• Oversee the content creation process end-to-end, from commissioning a network of freelance financial journalists to briefing them on key considerations, to hands-on editing, optimisation and checking of content to ensure it is of high quality.
• Work to improve acquisition and drive growth, performance and commercial outcomes for the Money Newsletter.
• Translate performance and search data into actionable insights to continuously refine and inform future content strategy, SEO opportunities, and A/B testing decisions.
• Lead the strategic selection and prioritisation of content, aligning with business priorities, newsletter strategy, and actionable insights from SEO data, website analytics, and email performance.
• Act as the final editorial authority on all content, giving writers feedback and editing content to ensure the highest standards of accuracy, brand voice and quality, including on complex financial topics.
• Optimise all content for performance and brand, to enhance SEO, user engagement and commercial outcomes.
• Champion the FCA’s Consumer Duty principles throughout the entire content lifecycle, ensuring all output meets regulatory requirements and is accurate, clear, and designed to achieve good customer outcomes.
• Work collaboratively and proactively with internal and external partners to ensure that work is published on schedule – identifying any blockers and proactively seeking resolution.
• Responsible for designing and executing a content strategy that supports the overall business strategy and works in harmony with the commercial goals of Saga Money and Saga Publishing.
You will already be a credible editor in the money product market. Have a meticulous eye for detail and the ability to handle complex financial and tax-related topics with complete accuracy. Someone who can demonstrate exceptional editorial skills and evidence previous articles and publications that you have managed and have been successful.
You will also need to demonstrate the following skills;
• Have an understanding of compliance and regulatory requirements for content in a regulated business.
• Proven experience developing and executing content strategy.
• Experience of working in a matrix working environment where facilitation and networking skills are core to resolving complex cross-departmental problems.
• Expert SEO knowledge.
• Experience of analytics tools such as Adobe Analytics and Google Analytics and using them to inform content decisions.
• Proven experience of designing data-informed content strategies.
• Experience with content management systems such as Sitecore.
• Project management – Ability to manage and deliver projects on time, to high standards.
• Highly organised and adaptable – Ability to solve problems, adapt to changes in priorities, and to balance multiple projects and tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Most importantly;
• Have a strong understanding of an over-50s audience and the content that resonates with them.
