The Role - Food Production Operative
As a member of the operations team, you will support the accurate preparation and timely dispatch of airline catering products and equipment, ensuring all customer and operational standards at Gatwick are consistently met. This position provides the opportunity to be part of a fast-moving logistics distribution and supply chain industry within the aviation catering sector.
Key Responsibilities
General Responsibilities
- Maintain correct stock rotation to preserve quality and compliance
- Track and report food waste levels
- Record and report damaged items such as crockery or glassware
- Work collaboratively to achieve daily production goals
Dishwash Area
- Dispose of waste safely using designated equipment
- Operate industrial wash machinery in accordance with training
- Monitor wash cycles and temperatures to ensure compliance
- Check cleaned items to confirm they meet hygiene and safety standards
Production Area
- Prepare airline catering items according to company and airline specifications
- Distribute products efficiently to relevant departments
- Assemble and load catering carts and trolleys based on passenger numbers
Pick & Pack
- Conduct quality checks prior to packing
- Pack carts accurately according to flight requirements
- Complete final security and compliance checks in line with procedures
Skills & Experience
- Minimum one year of catering experience preferred
- Strong team player with effective communication skills
- Good written and spoken English
