Role Overview
The Slinger/Signaller will play a key role in safely coordinating lifting operations on a busy construction site in Glasgow City Centre. This role involves attaching and detaching loads, ensuring safe movement of materials, and providing clear, precise signals to crane operators. The successful candidate must have strong awareness of site safety, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively within a high-activity urban construction environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely sling and secure loads following lifting plans and industry standards.
- Provide accurate, unambiguous hand and radio signals to crane operators.
- Work closely with the lifting team, including the Crane Supervisor and Appointed Person.
- Inspect lifting accessories before use and report any defects or concerns.
- Ensure all lifting operations comply with site rules, LOLER, and HSE regulations.
- Maintain exclusion zones and ensure all personnel remain clear during lifts.
Essential Requirements
- Valid CPCS Slinger/Signaller (A40) or NPORS equivalent.
- Proven experience in lifting operations on construction sites.
- Strong understanding of lifting equipment, accessories, and site safety protocols.
- Ability to communicate effectively with crane operators and site personnel.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and interpret lifting plans.
- Right to work in the UK.
