Job title: Phlebotomist - Enhanced Access Service (Saturdays only) Employer: Winchester City Primary Care Network Location: Badger Farm Surgery, Winchester Hours: Between 08:30-14:00 on Saturdays (hours negotiable within this window) Contract: part-time, Saturdays (permanent or ad hoc contract) About the Role Our Primary Care Network is seeking a skilled and confident Phlebotomist to support our Enhanced Access Service at Badger Farm Surgery on Saturdays. You will carry out adult venepuncture for pre-booked appointments, helping us provide high-quality weekend access for our local population. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working independently within a friendly and supportive environment. Key Responsibilities Perform venepuncture on adults in line with best practice and clinical safety standards. Accurately label, handle, and prepare blood samples for collection. Maintain strict aseptic technique to prevent contamination and infection. Prepare patients for procedures by explaining the process clearly and answering any questions. Monitor patient condition during procedures. Maintain accurate documentation of all procedures performed. Adhere to health and safety standards, including infection control protocols and basic life support procedures when necessary. Assist with inventory management of supplies and ensure the cleanliness of work areas when needed. About You (Essential Requirements) Were looking for someone who has: Certification or recognised training in phlebotomy. Previous experience in phlebotomy, ideally in primary care or a similar setting. Excellent communication skills with the ability to reassure anxious patients and explain procedures clearly. The ability to work independently during weekend sessions. Organised with meticulous attention to detail to ensure sample accuracy and safety and recording in medical records. Proficiency in aseptic technique and laboratory procedures. What We Offer Flexible Saturday hours between 08:30-14:00. Support from a welcoming PCN team.
