We are currently recruiting an experienced Chef to work for our client based in Nottingham.
Job Role
The Chef will be responsible for delivering a high-quality catering service within Adult Support Services, ensuring nutritious, balanced, and appetising meals are prepared for service users attending the Day Service. The role requires maintaining high standards of food hygiene, safety, and cleanliness while contributing to a positive and inclusive dining experience.
Key Duties & Responsibilities of a Chef:
Plan, prepare, and cook nutritious meals in line with dietary requirements and individual care plans.
Cater for special dietary needs including allergens, texture-modified diets, and cultural preferences.
Ensure compliance with Food Safety regulations, HACCP procedures, and Health & Safety standards.
Maintain high standards of kitchen hygiene, cleanliness, and organisation.
Monitor food stock levels, rotate stock, and minimise waste.
Order supplies in line with budgetary guidelines.
Maintain accurate records relating to food safety, temperature checks, and cleaning schedules.
Supervise and support kitchen assistants or volunteers where applicable.
Work collaboratively with care staff to ensure service users’ needs are met.
Promote dignity, respect, and inclusion in all aspects of service delivery.
Report maintenance issues, incidents, or concerns to management promptly.
Working Hours: 35 hours per week
Requirements of a Chef:
Previous experience working as a Chef or Cook in a professional kitchen.
Experience in catering within care, health, or community settings (desirable but advantageous).
Level 2 Food Safety & Hygiene Certificate (minimum).
NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Professional Cookery (or equivalent).
Knowledge of dietary requirements including allergens and special diets.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Experience working within Adult Social Care settings.
Knowledge of safeguarding procedures.
