About Theo’s Café
Theo’s Café is a friendly, community‑focused café in Orbiston Neighbourhood Centre, Bellshill known for quality, comfort food and excellent customer service. We pride ourselves on fresh ingredients, a warm atmosphere, and a team that loves what they do. We’re now looking for an experienced Kitchen Supervisor/Cook to help lead our kitchen and support the smooth running of daily operations.
Role Summary
The Kitchen Supervisor/Cook is responsible for preparing high‑quality food, overseeing kitchen operations, and ensuring all staff follow proper food safety and hygiene practices. This role blends hands‑on cooking with team leadership—ideal for someone who enjoys working in a busy café environment and has a passion for great food and great service.
Key Responsibilities
• Prepare, cook, and present menu items consistently and to café standards.
• Ensure all food is prepared safely and in line with food hygiene regulations.
• Maintain stock levels, monitor kitchen inventory, and report shortages.
• Assist with menu planning, specials, and recipe development.
• Ensure kitchen equipment is maintained, cleaned, and used safely.
• Oversee day‑to‑day kitchen activities and support kitchen staff and volunteers.
• Delegate tasks to ensure smooth service during busy periods.
• Provide guidance and training to new and existing kitchen employees.
• Work closely with front‑of‑house staff to deliver prompt and high‑quality service.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness across all kitchen areas.
• Follow COSHH, HACCP, and food safety regulations at all times.
• Complete temperature checks, cleaning schedules, and compliance logs.
• Support café service during peak times when necessary.
• Ensure dishes are consistent with customer expectations and café standards.
• Help maintain the positive, welcoming atmosphere Theo’s Café is known for.
Skills & Experience
• Previous experience as a cook/chef in a café or restaurant setting.
• Strong understanding of food safety standards.
• Ability to lead and support a team.
• Good communication and organisational skills.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
• Food Hygiene Level 2 or 3 certification (desirable).
• Experience supervising or training staff (desirable).
• Creativity with menu development and specials (desirable).
Personal Qualities
• Reliable, punctual, and professional.
• Passionate about great food and service.
• Positive attitude and ability to work well under pressure.
• Strong attention to detail.
