Crynodeb
The post holder will coordinate patient attendance at physical healthcare appointments, ensuring that the patient is escorted safely and in a timely manner.
To actively participate as a member of the Health Centre team in the delivery, monitoring and evaluation of an effective service.
The post holder will be required to carry out some administrative tasks within the department, or be deployed to ward areas when not required by the department. The role requires an individual with an ability to work as part of a team but also to be able to work unsupervised for a span of duty.
There is a need for awareness of security and patient issues.
To escort patients from wards to the Health Centre and back.
To provide chaperone for the patients whilst in appointments
Please note applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check.Costs are deducted from salary following appointment. The cost of the DBS application is £26.40 (standard) or £54.40 (enhanced), this cost will be deducted from your salary over the first 2 months of employment.
You are encouraged to enrol for the DBS Update Service. An annual fee of £16 per year applies.
Working Practice
Communicate patient escorting requirements to Central resource Office (CRO).
Coordinate daily escort schedules with CRO.
Coordinate escorting schedules with relevant ward staff.
To liaise with wards on escorting requirements for patients, taking into account any specific identified risks.
Perform assigned escorting duties
To undertake singleton escorting of patients as appropriate
Maintain good order and cleanliness in the department and assist in the preparation of physical healthcare clinics
Administrative tasks will include:
• Photocopying, filing and scanning documents
• Maintaining patient electronic records
• Booking appointments
• Data collection
Monitor and maintain supplies of materials and equipment within the department.
Reprocessing of contaminated medical instruments and devices
Security and maintenance checks within the area of work
Work at all times to minimise the risk of spread of infection
Assist with administrative tasks as directed by senior colleagues.
Actively promote a responsible caring attitude at all times, treating all patents with dignity and respect.
Demonstrate by example, an understanding of, and support the principles of Advocacy.
Always act in a manner that ensures no patient is subject to any forms of abuse.
Always act in a manner to promote and safeguard the interests and wellbeing of patients.
To work within requirements of security at all times.

Work on wards as required/directed by Modern Matron for the Physical Healthcare Service.
Please note that this post does not meet the pay level required for a Skilled worker visa.
Successful applicants with no prior NHS experience would normally be placed at the bottom of the band in line with Agenda for Change. This salary is below the minimum salary required for sponsorship for a Skilled Worker/Health & Care visa. In these circumstances the Trust would not, therefore, be able to sponsor for a Skilled Worker / Health & Care visa.
