Crynodeb
Assist the Registered Nurse in the, planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care.
At the direction of the Registered Nurse participate fully in the delivery of planned nursing care and treatment, applying and evaluating clinical skills.
Assist in the organisation of a clinical area co - ordinating clinics and reporting as necessary to the nurse in charge.
Work collaboratively and co operatively with others to meet the needs of patients their families and carers.
Support our patients in their dermatology journey. This will include skin surgery, treatment room services, in patient ward referrals, phototherapy services and out patient clinics.
Ensuring patients receive personal and effective care throughout their stay and act as the patients' advocate
Support all specialist services within dermatology outpatients clinics.
You will need to be able to demonstrate good, effective communication skills, be caring and hardworking individual and be committed to working in a challenging environment
Our dermatology services are spread across two main sites, the Royal Blackburn hospital and Burnely general hospital. Our treatment room service is situated on the dermatology departmenet at the Burnley General hospital site.
treatment room opening times are from 7.30- 1800 hrs.
The team occasionally need to cover Saturday and Sunday shifts for waiting list initiative clinics with a start time of 800-1700 hrs

Clinical.
Maintain confidentiality at all times.
Participate in the assessment of health care needs.
Assist the RGN in the evaluation of care and completion of patient documents.
Provide information to enable the effectiveness of care to be evaluated and electronic records maintained.
Involve patients and carers/relatives in the delivery of care.
Provide reassurance support to patients and carers/family during the giving of “bad news” liaising with relevant personnel.
Work collaboratively with others in the department to ensure that patients’ needs are met.
Recognise and respond appropriately to urgent and emergency situations.
Provide escort and transfer for patients, with low dependency, as directed.
Prepare and set up clinics, including trays and trolleys, treatment and examination rooms.
Having undertaken training, be competent at venepuncture, , skin sraping, nail clippings, recording blood glucose levels, basic dressings and assess severity of skin conditions using a variety of dermatology assessment tools.
Tidy and clean rooms and equipment as directed.
Chaperone patients when required.
During procedures, provide assistance to medical and nursing staff when requested.
Support clinician’s in phototherapy and skin surgery clinics
Clerical
Contribute to the development of services.
Ensure the effective and efficient use of resources.
Liase closely with medical and nursing staff, and associated departments, to ensure that clinics are conducted effectively and efficiently.
Ensure relevant reports and results are available for the consultation.
Carry out pre/post-consultation clerical duties when directed, such as making follow-up appointments and arranging patient transport.
Use Trust Cerner / IT system
Answer the telephone, take messages and pass onto the appropriate person.
Order medical and non-medical stock, maintaining a cost-effective approach.
Ensure all equipment is in good working order, arranging repair when necessary.
Ensure the tidiness and cleanliness of all clinical rooms, examination rooms, store cupboards and sub-waiting areas.
