Job Introduction
Make a Difference Every Day
As a Domestic Team Leader, at Queens Hospital, Romford, you’ll assist in managing a high-quality, cost-effective, and proactive cleaning service that meets the needs of the hospital and aligns with both Sodexo and NHS Trust standards. You’ll lead a team of Domestic Assistants, ensuring consistent delivery of outstanding cleaning performance, staff engagement, and compliance with infection control and health & safety policies.
What You’ll Do:
Supervising and supporting the domestic cleaning team to deliver excellent standards across wards and departments.
Monitoring cleaning performance and hygiene standards, ensuring full compliance with national and Trust requirements.
Preparing staff rotas, allocating work, and prioritising urgent cleaning requests.
Conducting regular audits, inspections, and quality control checks, taking action where improvements are needed.
Managing stock, equipment, and consumables efficiently within budget.
Providing training, coaching, and ongoing support to ensure team members are confident and competent in their roles.
Managing sickness, absence, and performance reviews for your team.
Ensuring adherence to health, safety, fire, and infection prevention policies at all times.
Maintaining accurate records, timesheets, and other documentation.
Leading by example with professionalism, empathy, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
What You’ll Bring:
Experience supervising or managing a cleaning/domestic team, ideally in a hospital or healthcare setting.
Good standard of literacy and numeracy.
Knowledge of infection prevention, COSHH, and Health & Safety procedures.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
Excellent time management and organisational abilities.
Ability to train, motivate, and develop team members.
Financial awareness and understanding of managing costs and resources.
Flexibility to work rotating night shifts and adapt to changing priorities.
Desirable:
Manual Handling training.
Experience in delivering staff training using company guidelines.
Understanding of NHS cleaning policies and standards.
NVQ or equivalent qualification in Cleaning or Team Leadership.
