About The Role:
As Quantity Surveyor within our Housing Repairs Team, you’ll provide trusted financial and commercial oversight across a range of housing repair projects.
You’ll be responsible for producing accurate cost estimates, valuations and financial reports, helping the service to monitor and forecast expenditure effectively. You’ll play a key role in developing and maintaining the Repairs Service schedule of rates, ensuring we achieve both strong cost control and best value for our residents.
You’ll advise on contract types and procurement routes, manage tenders and contract assessments, and oversee the financial performance of outsourced contracts to make sure projects are delivered efficiently and within budget.
A key part of your role will involve attending site meetings, ensuring health and safety compliance and building strong working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders – including Councillors, Senior Officers, contractors and external consultants. Your ability to communicate clearly and collaborate effectively will be essential to keeping projects on track and relationships positive.
Overall, this is a role where your commercial skills will have a tangible impact on the quality of homes and services we provide across the borough.
About You:
You’ll be an experienced Quantity Surveyor with a recognised construction qualification (RICS, BSc, HND, HNC or equivalent) and a strong background in cost planning, project management and contract administration.
You’ll bring excellent numeracy and IT skills, with confidence using systems to track budgets, monitor performance and produce clear financial information.
You’ll be a confident communicator who can negotiate effectively, build relationships and work collaboratively with colleagues and partners at all levels.
