Critical Care Dietitian - Royal Liverpool Hospital (University Hospitals Liverpool Group).
Band 7 (Full time/permanent) – 37.5 hours per week
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a self-motivated Dietitian to join our friendly Critical Care team on Royal Liverpool Hospital site. You will work alongside our Crit Care MDT and our Band 6 Dietitian covering a mixed surgical/medical ICU. The state-of-the-art unit has 40 beds.
You will be part of a wider surgical team comprised of Specialist Dietitians for Nutrition Support, HPB, Colorectal, and will provide support for Band 6 and Band 5 staff.
The successful candidate will have advanced clinical knowledge of parenteral nutrition and complex enteral feeding. Previous experience providing complex nutrition support in the acute setting is essential. Experience working within ICU or High Dependency Units is preferable. You will contribute to the on-going development of both the critical care and wider dietetic service. This is an excellent opportunity for a clinician to deepen their expertise in a supportive environment.
You will be the lead dietitian in the Critical Care team.
Clinically you will be responsible for covering a complex, busy in-patient caseload providing specialist nutrition support to critically ill patients and will be expected to attend regular MDT meetings, clinical governance meetings and ward rounds. The post holder will work closely with the nutrition support team for patients requiring PN.
You will be joining a well-established, forward-thinking team of over 50 dietitians and assistants committed to CPD, collaborative working, supervision and student training.
This post is available to registered dietitians with current professional HCPC registration.
Clinical Governance
You will participate in regional and national specialist interest groups to assist in maintenance of evidence based care.
You will always work in accordance with national and local standards, best practice and clinical guidelines when providing the dietetic service.
Take the lead for own clinical area, regular review, and updating of local standards and guidelines to ensure they always comply with current evidence, best practice or professional consensus.

Job Summary
To provide factually accurate, unbiased evidence based nutritional advice appropriate to the needs of individual. Advice will be provided using a patient-centred approach, in the context of multidisciplinary, multiagency delivery plans.
Job Purpose
To provide the clinical lead in the Trust for nutrition and dietetic service to your own specialist area. This involves:-
1. Personally providing the dietetic service to in-patients and out-patients
2. Educating/training other members of the multi-disciplinary team in specialist area.
3. Clinical supervision of newly qualified staff and Band 5/6 dietitians.
4. Training of Student Dietitians
5. Development and implementation of policies, protocols and guidelines relevant to clinical speciality.
