What skills and experience we're looking for
We are seeking to appoint a dynamic and experienced person to carry out a range of duties that will contribute to the effective delivery and development of excellent practical lessons in science, whilst coordinating the technician team and overseeing key aspects of the department such as health and safety.
The successful applicant will be expected to work flexibly and efficiently and able to work to deadlines. The post will involve physical activity that includes lifting and carrying as well as basic IT tasks.
What the school offers its staff
IKB Academy's excellent STEM facilities and Wellsway School's science department are located within a few yards of one another, making for a true cross campus curriculum team. Teachers from IKB and Wellsway School work across both schools under the strategic direction of the Curriculum for Science and Deputy Curriculum Directors for KS3 and 5, with teachers from both schools working closely together as one curriculum team with the support from three part time science technicians.
We believe people flourish when they feel valued, supported and inspired. At Wellsway campus you’ll find a collaborative culture, purposeful professional development and a shared commitment to wellbeing.
All colleagues benefit from a fully funded Health Cash Plan, providing up to £500 each year towards everyday health costs such as dental, optical and physiotherapy appointments.
Commitment to safeguarding
Your suitability to work with children and young people will form part of the selection process. For this post, prior to appointment Futura Learning Partnership will apply for a satisfactory enhanced Disclosure and Barring check, a Children’s Barred list check, two satisfactory references, satisfactory pre-employment health screening and for Teachers, a Prohibition Check in relation to the children’s workforce. In some settings a Declaration will be required in order to meet our obligations under the ‘Disqualification under the Childcare Act 2006’.
