Title: Accounts Assistant

Type: Permanent

Hours: Full Time (Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm)

Location: Inverness (Office Based)

Salary: £25,000 - £28,000 + benefits

Details:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accounts Assistant to support the finance function, with primary responsibility for Treasury management and Sales Ledger Administration. The successful candidate will ensure accurate cash management, timely customer invoicing, effective credit control, and precise financial record-keeping.

This role is ideal for someone with strong numerical skills, excellent organisational ability, and a solid understanding of accounting procedures. Key Responsibilities:

• Daily bank reconciliations across multiple accounts
• Monitoring cash flow and reporting variances
• Processing payments (BACS, CHAPS, Faster Payments, cheques)
• Maintaining accurate cashbooks
• Assisting with short-term cash flow forecasting
• Liaising with banks regarding transactions and queries
• Posting and allocating customer receipts
• Reconciling customer accounts
• Investigating and resolving invoice discrepancies
• Producing aged debtor report
• Supporting month-end and year-end processes

Person Specification:

• Previous experience in an accounts or finance role
• Strong understanding of treasury and sales ledger processes
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage, Xero, SAP, Pegasus Opera or similar)
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Strong organisational and time management skills
• Excellent communication skills
• Confident finance professional with a passion for improving systems and hitting deadlines.



Requirements:
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to work across departments
• Advanced Excel and accounting software proficiency
• Hands-on and flexible approach to problem-solving
• Previous experience in an accounts or finance role
• Strong understanding of treasury and sales ledger processes
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage, Xero, SAP, Pegasus Opera or similar)

Desirable:
• AAT qualification (or studying towards)
• Experience with Pegasus Opera
• Payroll experience
