Your new company
Hays is working in partnership with Solihull Council to recruit an experienced Minute Taker / Administrator to support Child Protection Conferences within Children's Services. This is a vital role where you will help ensure effective safeguarding practice through accurate, timely and professional documentation.
Your new role
You will attend multi‑agency Child Protection Conferences and produce high‑quality summaries and minutes. As meetings are not recorded, you must be confident capturing information in real time with exceptional focus and attention to detail.
Main responsibilities:

- Taking comprehensive, accurate minutes at Child Protection Conferences- Producing conference summaries within 24 hours
- Completing full minutes within the 20‑day turnaround
- Working closely with the Conference Chair to verify actions and decisions
- Setting up and preparing Child Protection meetings
- Occasional assistance with CLA distribution
- Uploading records and minutes to the LCS system
- Handling general administrative duties using the Council‑provided laptop and phone

This role involves hybrid working: typically 2 days in the office depending on conference schedules. You must be in the office when attending conferences, with flexibility to work from home afterwards. The first 2 weeks will be office‑based for shadowing and training.

What you'll need to succeed
- Strong minute‑taking experience (CP or safeguarding settings desirable)- Ability to focus, listen and summarise complex discussions accurately
- Excellent written communication skills
- Good IT skills; familiarity with LCS is a bonus
- Ability to travel locally when required (driving licence not essential)
