We are looking for enthusiastic, motivated radiographers to join our team in a rotational role in Interventional Radiology (IRT) at Hull Royal Infirmary and the Cardiac Catheter Labs at Castle Hill Hospital.
As we are a regional centre for many interventions, you would gain experience in a wide range of procedures; vascular procedures, including EVAR; neuro interventional procedures (involving complex intervention and acute thrombectomy for stroke); cardiac procedures including, EP, Complex Devices, complex PCI and TAVI.
There will be out of hours work and an on call rota in both IRT and the cardiac cath labs that applicants must be willing to take part in. You must be available within 30 minutes when on call.
The normal working hours at present are Monday-Friday 8am-6pm with a 24/7 on-call service, however, we are planning on having a 7-day service at both sites in the future.
• Undertake all imaging examinations in your designated imaging department using established departmental guidelines, policies and procedures.
• Achieve and maintain a high standard of Radiographic technique, selecting imaging modalities and techniques appropriate to suit the needs of the patient and ease diagnosis for the referring clinician.
• Maintain high working standards by keeping an up to date knowledge of developments and techniques in radiography and to help facilitate the introduction of such as appropriate.
• Monitor the quality of work in own area and alerting others to quality issues
• Compile a personal and professional portfolio in conjunction with the PPDR process and undertake reflective practice.
• Pursue your own educational and professional development, following your professional code of conduct
• Exercise judgment and empathy when dealing with patient enquiries and to resolve patient problems.
• Communicate to patients and visitors in an empathic and reassuring manner to enable the radiological examinations to be undertaken and diagnosis or treatment to be provided.
• Liaise and report regularly to the Section Manager.
• Provide information and advice to patients, relatives and other medical staff about safety/radiation issues.
• Comply with the Data Protection Act
