Role summary
Deerwood Sanctuary is a warm, traditional care home in Wolverley, Kidderminster. We are seeking a friendly and creative Activities Assistant to support residents with meaningful daily activities, community involvement, and small fundraising events that enhance wellbeing and connection.
Responsibilities
- Planning and delivering a variety of activities tailored to residents’ interests and abilities
- Supporting residents with group sessions and one‑to‑one engagement
- Encouraging social interaction, companionship, and emotional wellbeing
- Assisting with events, celebrations, and seasonal activities
- Helping to organise small fundraising activities within the home
- Building positive links with local groups, schools, and community organisations
- Supporting community visits and welcoming local groups into the home
- Keeping activity areas tidy, safe, and welcoming
- Recording participation and sharing feedback with the care team
Requirements
- Warm, patient, and engaging approach
- Good communication and confidence supporting older adults
- Creativity and enthusiasm for planning meaningful activities
- Ability to support small fundraising and community engagement tasks
- Organised, reliable, and able to work independently and as part of a team
- Experience in care, activities, or community work is helpful but not essential; full training provided
