Why Derwentside College?
Derwentside College is one of the top performing colleges in the region for its learner and employer satisfaction. We are an ambitious organisation and as a large provider of apprenticeships we are leading the way in delivering a range of outstanding services to learners and employers.
Derwentside College’s Engineering Department have developed long-standing partnerships with several leading engineering employers in the North East. As such, we are fortunate enough to be training some of the region’s most talented trainee engineers.
We are seeking to appoint a Training Consultant who has the expertise and drive to match the expectations of our learners.
What will you do?
As a Training Consultant, you will play a vital role in shaping the next generation of skilled professionals. You’ll bring your passion for engineering into a dynamic and rewarding teaching environment where your industry expertise will directly influence learner success.
You will deliver high-quality, engaging training both on and off the job, monitor and mentor apprentices in the workplace and help them prepare for their Apprenticeship Assessment. Your ability to contextualise learning with real-world examples will help learners connect theory to practice, building their confidence and competence.
In order to be successful in this role, you will have industry experience, along with a recognised level 3 Engineering qualification and ideally a minimum of a level 2 qualification in maths and English. You will either have or be willing to work towards the TAQA Assessor Qualification. Experience of supporting teaching and learning in a workshop environment or workplace would be an advantage.
You’ll be confident in conducting progress reviews, tailoring training to employer needs, and supporting apprentices with the development of their technical skills. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real impact, working with motivated learners, respected employers, and a supportive team in a college that values innovation, quality, and industry relevance.
This post attracts a recruitment and retention premium with a salary up to £35,311 per annum (pro rata for part-time).
