Job responsibilities BUNGAY MEDICAL PRACTICE JOB TITLE: PRACTICE NURSE Reports to: Nurse Manager Hours of Work: FT or PT Holiday: 5 weeks per annum pro rata, plus Bank Holidays Pension: NHS Pension Scheme Salary:According to Qualifications and Experience Job Summary: To provide high quality, responsive and empathetic nursing care to the patients of Bungay Medical Practice, incorporating all aspects of Practice Nurse duties including: management of long term conditions; cervical cytology screening; childhood, travel and seasonal vaccination programmes; wound care; phlebotomy; new patient checks; housebound / residential patient visits for long term condition reviews and seasonal vaccination programmes; To work flexibly and supportively as a key member of the nursing team and wider multidisciplinary practice team. To participate in teaching other nursing staff, medical students and other students as appropriate. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES CLINICAL To provide holistic, empathetic, evidence-based professional nursing care to all our patients. PROFESSIONAL To provide a high standard of professional conduct and nursing care at all times in accordance with the NMC. It is the responsibility as a professional, for staff to ensure that their practice is kept up to date, to maintain eligibility for NMC registration. To participate in teaching other nursing staff, medical students and other students as appropriate. To attend relevant meetings (in-house and external), courses, seminars. MANAGEMENT & ADMINISTRATION Good record keeping is essential. To be conversant with all computer systems utilised by the practice including the use of templates to ensure all necessary data is recorded and use these for the benefit of patients, self and colleagues. To provide holiday/sickness/study relief for the Nursing Team. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES It is important that all members of practice staff are flexible and prepared to adapt and take on additional duties or to relinquish existing duties in order to maintain efficient running of the practice. The Board of Partners reserves the right to reasonably redistribute duties and functions from time to time based on service needs and the existing skills of the post holder. The post holder will maintain up to date professional registration as a requirement of the role and will comply at all times with the Code of Professional Conduct, assessing own performance and taking accountability for own actions, either directly or under supervision. Contribute to the effectiveness of the team by reflecting on own and team activities and making suggestions on ways to improve and enhance the teams performance. Work effectively with individuals in other agencies to meet patients needs. Effectively manage own time, workload and resources. The post-holder will attend relevant training as identified either by Personal Development Plan or to meet the requirements of the practice. It is expected that the knowledge and skills acquired from attendance at such training will be shared and applied within the practice. The post holder is expected to personally comply with the statutory provisions of health and safety at work legislation and local policy and to always work in a safe manner and not to put self or others at risk. It is a contractual requirement that all employees of the practice comply with the rules of confidentiality pertaining to patients, staff, and business information.
