An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Assistant Business Manager to join our dynamic Operations Centre on a permanent basis. The Operations Centre is the Trusts 24/7 central hub, providing real time operational oversight across all LTHT sites. By supporting the monitoring of patient flow, coordinating resources and working closely with clinical and non clinical teams, the Centre plays a vital role in ensuring safe, efficient and responsive care. With a Trust wide view of activity, it helps manage capacity, respond to pressures and maintain smooth day to day operations. Youll be part of a supportive, forward thinking team at the heart of Trust operations, with opportunities to develop your leadership skills and contribute to improvements that make a real difference to patient care. The post holder will support operational delivery and the administrative processes that underpin patient flow and discharge. They will hold line management responsibility for administrative staff, providing day to day leadership, workload allocation, performance monitoring, appraisals and support for staff development and wellbeing, ensuring high standards and adherence to Trust policies is maintained. The role is key in supporting effective communication and collaborative working with system partners, including Leeds Community Healthcare, Leeds City Council, Adult Social Care and the Integrated Care Board to enable safe and timely patient flow across organisational boundaries. As Assistant Business Manager, you will play a key role in supporting operational delivery and ensuring the effective completion of administrative processes that underpin patient flow and discharge across Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (LTHT). Your work will directly contribute to improving patients hospital journeys and supporting safe, timely discharge beyond the acute setting. A significant element of the role includes line management responsibilities. You will provide day-to-day leadership, supervision and support to administrative staff within the Operations Centre, overseeing workload allocation, performance standards and adherence to operational processes. You will conduct regular 1:1s, appraisals and performance reviews, support staff development and training, foster a positive and high-performing team culture, and manage rota coordination, sickness monitoring and HR processes in line with Trust policy. The role also involves leadership and active participation in Trust-wide improvement initiatives across LTHT particularly in relation to No Criteria to Reside and patient transport pathways, alongside supporting the CSU on a day-to-day basis. This includes driving improvements to discharge transport options, strengthening system coordination, and implementing actions that enhance patient flow and reduce unnecessary delays across sites. This is a fast-paced environment requiring strong leadership, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work flexibly and collaboratively across multiple teams and sites.
