Main Duties of the Job Lead preparation for JAG accreditation and annual review, including evidence collation, gap analysis, action planning and coordination of inspection activity. Develop, implement and monitor a comprehensive JAG action plan with clear timelines and accountability. Ensure the Endoscopy User Group provides robust governance oversight, including learning from incidents, audit findings and quality metrics. Provide visible, compassionate and professional nursing leadership within the Endoscopy Service. Support the delivery of high-quality, safe and person-centred endoscopy care. Maintain clinical competence through undertaking one clinical endoscopy session per week. Strengthen audit processes, including comfort scores, KPI monitoring and compliance reporting. Review and update policies, SOPs and documentation in line with JAG and national guidance. Escalate risks or non-compliance appropriately and support timely resolution. Support workforce development, competency assurance and reflective practice. Detailed Job Description and Main Responsibilities Clinical Responsibilities Maintain up-to-date theoretical and clinical knowledge in endoscopy and decontamination. Undertake pre- and post-procedure care in line with scope of practice. Provide senior clinical support and oversight within the endoscopy unit. Recognise and appropriately escalate complications or concerns. Support safe and effective delivery of endoscopy lists. JAG Accreditation & Quality Lead on JAG accreditation inspections and annual reviews. Conduct gap analyses against JAG standards and implement improvement plans. Horizon-scan for changes to JAG standards and national guidance, ensuring the leadership team remains informed. Embed sustainable governance and audit systems to maintain compliance beyond the duration of the post. Ensure compliance with JAG, BSG, NICE, CQC and local standards. Ensure decontamination governance arrangements meet JAG standards, including traceability, documentation, audit and assurance processes. Support monitoring of environmental standards, equipment validation and compliance with relevant Health Technical Memoranda (HTM) guidance. Quality, Safety & Governance Record and audit comfort scores and other relevant quality indicators. Participate in audit, data collection and outcomes monitoring. Contribute to incident reporting, investigation and shared learning. Maintain high standards of infection prevention and provide leadership oversight of endoscope decontamination processes, ensuring compliance with HTM guidance, national standards and local policy. Promote a culture of openness, continuous improvement and patient safety. Leadership & Service Development Act as a senior clinical role model within the endoscopy unit. Support staff development through coaching, supervision and facilitation of reflective practice. Contribute to service planning, workforce development and quality improvement initiatives. Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary colleagues to enhance patient experience and operational performance. Provide professional nursing leadership across the endoscopy pathway. Working Pattern This is a 12-month fixed-term post for 25 hours per week. The post holder will undertake one clinical endoscopy session per week to maintain clinical competence. The remaining time will be dedicated to JAG accreditation, governance, audit and service improvement activity.
