We’re looking for a proactive and forward thinking Internal Audit Manager to join our Group Risk & Audit team. In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to influence real change across a complex, fast moving organisation while growing your expertise in a supportive, people focused environment. You\'ll be part of a team that delivers pragmatic and proportional strategic internal audit reviews addressing Tesco\'s main priorities across the Group\'s varied functions and business units.

Success in this role will be measured by your ability to manage large assurance programmes, provide actionable insights and independent assurance to a consistently high standard and to be a catalyst for change in the business.

You will be responsible for

  • Leading a portfolio of complex assurance programmes and audits from end to end – from defining clear objectives and purpose through to delivering impactful insights. This may also providing assurance over major change initiatives.
  • Producing high quality audit documentation, reports and key deliverables – ensuring senior leaders, the Executive team, Audit Committee and Board receive timely, accurate and actionable insight.
  • Owning stakeholder relationships, collaborating and partnering with the business to understand their priorities, risks and how assurance activities can provide valuable insight.
  • Embedding modern audit techniques – championing the use of automation, AI, and data analytics to elevate assurance and reveal deeper trends.
  • Driving and supporting change – using design thinking and project management skills to improve how the Group Audit function operates and helping deliver wider improvement initiatives across the function and Tesco
  • Proactively communicating with internal and external team members to inform, advance, seek advice and decisions. Sharing knowledge and owning projects that contribute to the achievement of Group Audit’s strategy.
  • Owning your development – building strong business understanding, investing in your audit capabilities, working as a team and living by our Business Code of Conduct, acting with integrity and due diligence at all times.

You will need

  • Proven experience in internal audit assurance and advisory projects— across strategic, commercial and operational topics.
  • Demonstrable experience leading internal audits of large companies and teams, in addition to dealing with complex technical matters.
  • Understanding of governance and compliance requirements, and related processes, in large and complex organisations, experience in retail advantageous.
  • Strong project and change management skills, with confidence leading or supporting transformation.
  • A collaborative mindset and strong problem solving skills, able to bring pragmatic, well-reasoned solutions.
  • Curiosity, adaptability, and a desire to work in a fast paced, evolving business.
  • Commercial acumen - an ability to apply a commercial and pragmatic mindset and ability to link business problems to assurance activities.
  • A recognised accountancy qualification and/or IIA qualification.
