(2 days in office / 3 days remote, with occasional travel to other offices)

About the Client
Southern Housing’s Assets & Sustainability directorate delivers capital investment programmes, ensuring homes and buildings are safe, compliant, and maintained to high standards. The team manages large‑scale improvement projects, sustainability initiatives, and long‑term asset planning across the organisation’s housing portfolio.

The Role
The Project Manager will lead and deliver capital investment projects across Southern Housing’s asset base. This includes managing project lifecycles from planning to completion, ensuring compliance, quality, value for money and alignment with organisational standards. The role requires strong stakeholder engagement, contract management, and the ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously within a fast‑paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
Manage capital investment projects from inception to completion, ensuring delivery to time, cost and quality standards.

Oversee project planning, procurement, contract administration and performance monitoring.

Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory and organisational requirements across all projects.

Work collaboratively with internal teams, contractors, consultants and stakeholders to ensure effective project delivery.

Monitor budgets, forecasts and financial performance, ensuring value for money.

Prepare project documentation, reports, risk assessments and progress updates.

Support the delivery of sustainability and asset improvement objectives.

Conduct site visits, inspections and quality checks as required.

Manage risks, issues and dependencies, escalating where necessary.

Ensure customer‑focused delivery, minimising disruption to residents and maintaining high service standards.

Contribute to continuous improvement within the Capital Investment team.

Candidate Requirements
Essential Experience & Skills
Proven experience managing capital investment, construction or property‑related projects.

Strong understanding of project management methodologies and best practice.

Experience managing contractors, consultants and supply chain partners.

Ability to manage budgets, financial reporting and project forecasting.

Strong organisational and planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects.

Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Ability to interpret technical information and ensure compliance with relevant standards.

Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to work independently.

Desirable
Experience within housing, social housing or asset management environments.

Knowledge of sustainability, building safety and compliance frameworks.

Relevant project management qualification (e.g., PRINCE2, APM).
