Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship – St Mary's CE (VA) Primary School

At St Mary's CE (VA) Primary School, we are proud to be a small, welcoming and nurturing primary school with an attached Nursery, serving children aged 2 to 11 within the St Mary’s ward of Swanley. Our stable, supportive and experienced staff team, alongside a dedicated governing body, work hard to ensure that every child feels secure, valued and inspired to achieve their full potential. We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Teaching Assistant Apprentice to join our Reception team. This role is ideal for an individual who is passionate about supporting young children in the Early Years Foundation Stage, eager to develop their skills within a primary school setting, and motivated to contribute positively to children’s learning and wellbeing.


Apprenticeship Summary:

- Salary: £7.55 an hour
- Working Week: Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 4:00pm including a 1 hour break
- Hours: 35 hours per week
- Location: St Mary's Road, Swanley, Face, BR87BU



The Role:

As a Teaching Assistant Apprentice, you will work under the direction of the class teacher to support teaching and learning within the Reception class. You will help deliver high-quality care and education, ensuring pupils’ physical, emotional, social and intellectual needs are met. You will assist with daily routines, classroom activities and behaviour management, while developing your own professional skills and knowledge within an Early Years setting.


Skills and Experience:

-Commitment to supporting the Christian ethos and values of the school
-Committed to achieving a Level 3 qualification
-Good organisational, planning and record-keeping skills
-Ability to communicate effectively with children, colleagues and parents/carers
-Ability to work independently and as part of a team
-Positive and proactive approach to problem solving
-Calm, patient and able to work under pressure
-Ability to meet the physical demands of the role
-Dedication to ongoing personal and professional development


Training and Development:
-As an apprentice, you will receive support through both on-the-job learning and formal training as part of your apprenticeship programme. This will typically include:

-Study towards a relevant qualification, Level 3 SEND Teaching Assistant Diploma.
On-the-job training and mentoring from experienced professionals.
Regular review meetings to track progress and development.
