Job Advert

Nestled within the YMCA Community & Activity Village in Newark, our café provides a welcoming, vibrant, community focused space
serving a delicious range of food and beverages to all the different groups who visit us.

We are excited to be recruiting a new position of Duty Manager within our café. With the support of our Hospitality Director, you
will oversee the smooth running of the front of house team, ensuring exemplary customer service is your number 1 priority.

If you are motivated by the power of community, creating a welcoming space for everyone and share our passion for great food and
drink, this could be your perfect opportunity.

The Role

As well as overseeing the front of house café, you will also oversee the running of the numerous and varied events we run in our
events space and our café. From private functions, live music, corporate events and more, you will ensure each event runs without
a hitch, embedding exemplary customer service in everything you do.

You will need great business acumen to support the YMCA to achieve financial targets, quality standards and meet its annual
budget. Not only do we have a responsibility to be financially profitable, but this is enhanced by knowing every pound we make,
directly benefits the local people of Newark by funding the projects and programmes run throughout the Village.

From your previous experience within a hospitality setting, you will be able to work with the Hospitality Director to help
shape product selection, menu choices and pricing. We value local, seasonal and high-quality produce and have relationships with
many local, artisan producers already but are keen to keep expanding and refreshing our options to keep our customers interested
and most importantly, satisfied!

You will be an excellent team manager able to create a strong team dynamic where each shifts runs smoothly. You will bring a
sense of fun, passion and enjoyment to the team that influences everyone working with you. You will manage everything associated
to your team – from recruitment, training, appraisals and any HR processes (with the support of our HR team!)

Working 37.5 hour over 5 days, there will be the need for flexibility within your rota pattern to cover evenings and weekends for
the events.

From your mix of previous experience, your working knowledge of health and safety and food and drink preparation practices and
your passion for the difference you can make through our community space, we would love to hear from you.
