1. To communicate effectively with patients and carers in order to explain complex imaging procedures and gain consent to proceed, on a wide range of varied patients including those with severe visual impairment 2. To instil appropriate eye drops following approved protocols/patient group directives and standard operating procedures to ensure patient safety 3. To provide a specialized colour fundus imaging service including high magnification, stereo imaging and wide-field protocols 4. To provide an anterior segment imaging service 5. To undertake OCT imaging on patients of all ages and abilities ensuring the best possible result is obtained 6. To provide a full retinal and choroidal angiography service, including Fluorescein angiography and indocyanine green angiography, on a wide range of patients with varying eye conditions making allowances for variations required in examination by ophthalmic condition 7. To ensure that all images are of sufficient quality to inform diagnosis and treatment decisions. 8. To understand and follow emergency procedures in the event of an adverse reaction from a patient. 9. To perform visual acuity testing using a variety of methods as necessary 10. To recognize and report to medical staff any findings which may influence a medical decision which have not previously been noted. 11. To be accountable for maintaining accurate paper and electronic records. 12. To have day to day responsibility for imaging equipment reporting faults and facilitating maintenance as required. 13. To maintain a working knowledge of new developments in the area of ophthalmic imaging 14. To manage own caseload of ophthalmic imaging patients within the clinic 15. To undertake a range of clinical investigations as required visual field examination, intraocular pressure measurement, visual acuity testing etc Administrative and Managerial 1. To prioritise own workload 2. To supervise and work together with optometry/ophthalmology technicians providing assistance on imaging techniques as required. 3. To work with department lead to develop imaging service 4. To liaise with senior staff in ophthalmology, IT and medical engineering regarding any update or replacement of imaging equipment as required Audit and Teaching 1. To train technicians and those undertaking ophthalmic imaging in the department in necessary techniques. 2. To teach students of all disciplines regarding ophthalmic imaging. 3. To take a proactive lead in professional development identifying areas for personal and service development Professional 1. To maintain own professional (AHCS) registration and participate in necessary CPD to allow this.
