Contemporary Science Manager
Salary: £35,000 PA
Hours: Full-time (37 hours per week) permanent
Work Location: Site Based
The International Centre for Life is a thriving science hub in the heart of Newcastle. Its purpose is to inspire everyone to explore and enjoy science and to provide a world class science hub where life enhancing engagement, research and clinical treatment can thrive. Life is home to NHS clinics as well as scientists and researchers from Newcastle University. Life Science Centre is at the heart of this ‘circle of science’ and aspires to be most accessible and inclusive visitor attraction in the UK. It has an international reputation for its work in sensory engagement.
We’re looking for a Contemporary Science Manager to create and deliver an exciting programme of science engagement that inspires adults and young people across the Northeast.
You’ll design imaginative events around cutting edge science, working with researchers, industry partners, creatives and communities to bring contemporary science stories to life. From shaping ideas to delivering events, you’ll manage the full programme and find fresh ways to engage audiences.
You’ll have a have a degree (or equivalent) in a science subject and experience in developing or delivering engaging science content or programmes for a range of audiences. You’ll be confident communicating complex ideas clearly to non specialist audiences, both verbally and in writing, enjoy working collaboratively as part of a team, and have experience contributing to projects or events. An interest in evaluation and using feedback to improve future activity is also important.
