Healthcare Security Officer- UCLH
£13.85 per hour | 42 hours per week | Days, Nights & Weekends (flexible rota)

A new opportunity has arisen for a Healthcare Security Officer to join the Medirest team. You’ll play a vital role in maintaining a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and healthcare professionals within a hospital setting.

About the Role

You will support clinical teams and hospital staff by ensuring safety, managing incidents professionally, and providing reassurance to patients and visitors.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting clinical teams to de-escalate incidents of violence and aggression

  • Assisting with patient restraint when required (training provided)

  • Responding to incidents across hospital premises and grounds

  • Liaising with Police when required

  • Conducting internal and external patrols

  • Monitoring CCTV, alarms and access control systems

  • Managing ID badges and access cards

  • Completing incident reports and documentation

  • Participating in post-incident reviews and learning processes

  • Providing excellent customer service at all times

  • Supporting car park management and site safety operations

About You

Our ideal candidate will be:

  • Passionate about patient, visitor and staff safety

  • Comfortable working in a hospital environment

  • Confident communicating with people experiencing distress or mental health challenges

  • Skilled in verbal de-escalation techniques

  • Empathetic and patient-focused in decision-making

  • Willing to undertake restraint and conflict management training

  • Knowledgeable (or willing to learn) about public safety procedures, NHS security guidance, and relevant legislation

  • Able to work under pressure, independently and as part of a team

  • Flexible to meet operational requirements

  • Computer literate

Shift Pattern

42 hours per week across a flexible rota including days, nights and weekends (as per business needs).
