Health & Safety Engineer (Office-Based) - Birmingham

Reporting to: Senior Health & Safety Engineer
Salary: Circa £30,000 (dependent on experience and qualifications)
Hours: 37.5 per week (8:30am – 4:30pm, 30-minute lunch)

The Role

We are looking for a proactive Health & Safety Engineer to produce and maintain compliant Health & Safety systems for site works, ensuring full compliance with current legislation — particularly the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015.

This role is primarily office-based but will require occasional national travel, including overnight stays.

Key Responsibilities

- Undertake office and site audits to monitor compliance
- Identify and implement corrective actions

- Produce site documentation including:

- Method Statements
- Risk Assessments
- Construction Phase Plans

- Vet new sub-contractors and monitor their H&S performance
- Contribute to maintaining and updating the company Health & Safety Policy
- Conduct occasional Quality Assurance compliance audits within the Contracts department
- Complete client Pre-Qualification Questionnaires (PQQs)

About You
You will:

- Have experience in a similar role or sector
- Have a working knowledge of CDM Regulations
- Hold a recognised H&S qualification (e.g. NEBOSH or equivalent)
- Hold a full UK driving licence
- Be willing to travel nationally when required

Ideally you will also have:

- A CSCS card
- SMSTS qualification
- Experience conducting internal audits (training can be provided)

Salary & Package:

- Up to 30K Salary
- Company Van & Fuel card
- Your usual hours of work will be 37.5 per week, the standard hours being made up as follows:
- You are entitled to ½ hour lunch break each day.
- 21 days holiday + Bank Holidays
