South Derbyshire District Council’s Active Communities and Health Team is seeking up to ten enthusiastic and motivated Casual Active Community Coaches to support a variety of activities across the district. As part of our coaching team, you will help lead and deliver sport and physical activity sessions primarily for children and young people aged 5–16, with some opportunities to work with participants aged 16 and above.
Successful applicants will initially support our extensive summer delivery programme between 13 July and 4 September. This includes work across the Active Schools Partnerships Holiday Activity and Food (HAF) Camps at primary school sites, Get Active in the Forest’s Out & Active holiday camp at Rosliston Forestry Centre, and the Summer Playscheme, which offers over 100 free sessions delivered by the Play, Sports and Adventure Mobiles to families and young people across South Derbyshire.
Following the summer period, staff may be offered additional opportunities to contribute to a wide range of school and community-based programmes. This could include supporting community sport initiatives with the Active Communities & Health Team, delivering school-based educational programmes through the Active Schools Partnership, and assisting with outdoor and adventurous activities as part of the wider Get Active in the Forest programme.
Positions are offered on a casual basis, with up to 37 hours per week available during school holidays depending on service demand. Working hours will vary and are likely to include daytime work, with some evening and occasional weekend commitments.
Activities will depend on your qualifications and experience, and may include general multi-sport delivery, inflatables, laser combat, Bikeability, team building, Nordic walking, archery, cycling, event support, sports mentoring, and involvement in competitions, festivals and other initiatives linked to the Active Schools Partnership. Full training will be provided where necessary.
